Right-clicking to follow Sim doesn't work (drops)

I started playing For Rent for the Sims 4 anniversary login reward event and I have had lots of bugs since playing - discovery events being blank, sim not responding to actions etc. I noticed the other day that there are problems with For Rent causing corruption to a save file and today when I was playing the following camera either never locks or does lock, (when right-hand clicking on sim) but as soon as I move the mouse away the lock and automatic following of the sim stops.

I have tried a new save and the issue still occurs. When I delete the entire Sims 4 folder and start again from fresh, the issue doesn't happen.

What should I do? I don't really want to start again and not play For Rent as whilst I could keep the Sim by uploading it to the gallery, the time machine would be gone.

I have a new laptop and I'm worried it's something I've done. Cheers!

Thanks for updating my report, I have looked at the other thread and followed what people had written there and the issue only occurs in windowed, full screen mode as yourself posted five years ago.

Hello, sorry if this report is too old or anything, but while encountering the issue, I found the exact cause.

On Fullscreen Windowed mode, the camera edge scrolling "zone" is slightly larger than on Windowed or Fullscreen. Misaligned even, probably. I am playing on a 27" 1080p monitor.

    Here's what actually happens:
    1. You hover your mouse above your sim's small portrait on the bottom part of the UI.
    2. You right-click the portrait to follow your sim.
    3. You move your cursor in an upward motion from the portrait (e.g. to interact with the rest of the game).
    4. As you move your cursor up, there is a tiny zone between your sim's portrait and the rest of the screen, that counts as camera edge scrolling "zone" that instantly cancels the camera follow feature.

This small "zone" does not exist in Windowed and Fullscreen, only Windowed Fullscreen (Borderless).

    To further test this issue:
    1. Have Windowed Fullscreen.
    2. Right-click your sim mini-portrait to follow your sim.
    3. Move your cursor along the UI (along the Calendar, Phone and Notebook icons), across your big sim portrait upwards.
    4. Try to move your cursor around the screen.

Since the UI made you avoid the edge scrolling zone, you can now freely move your cursor around without your camera cancelling.

Current best workarounds for the issue:
    1. Don't use Windowed Fullscreen
    2. Don't use Edge Scrolling for camera (middle-mouse button and arrows work pretty well, honestly)
    3. Never move your cursor directly from your sim icon towards the center of the screen, but move your cusor in an L shaped motion from the icon, across the leftmost UI and then towards the center, avoiding the edge scrolling zone

Thank you so much for looking further into the issue, hopefully this well help the devs resolve the issue in the long term.
